Up anchor again

Well, once again, we are going to raise anchor in the morning and move on towards paradise. We will motorsail 45 miles up the inside of Baja on the Sea of Cortez to an anchorage called Bahia Los Frailes. It is under a rock that-to early explorers- looked like three priests climbing the hill.

Cabo was fun. We were here for a total of 5 days and feel ready to move on. The music pumps 24 hours a day, there is an endless stream of vendors trying to hawk arts crafts, trinkets and drugs. We had three parties to go to associated with the Baja-Ha-Ha rally, ate out nearly every lunch and dinner, and the boys stayed hydrated with Pacifico for the first three days. The people of Mexico seem so nice so far. Especially the farther you get from the main tourist drag. The women absolutely adore Gabriella- literally request to hold her, then pass her around and dote over her. Jonah lives for his daily ice cream ration. The heladerias (ice cream stores) in Mexico are uniqui in that they offer regular scoops, but the real treat is the popsicles made from all sorts of fresh ripe fruits. We can each get a gourmet popsicle for 80 cents each! We also enjoy the taquerias. The staff rarely speak any english and the menu is usually four items painted on the wall. I have discovered papas mixtas, which is a baked potato with a layer of mozzarella type cheese, and carne asada on top. Dress it up with quac, sour cream, and salsa of your choice and- YUM!

Fuel is much here. 6 pesos per liter of gas roughly equals $2.00 per gallon. That's good with all the motoring we do due to lack of wind.

Hans left for Oregon this morning. I think he was ready to stay for a while. We definitely would have kept him on for the passage to Mazatlan which we will make in two days. We will sail from the Los Frailes anchorage mentioned above to Mazatlan. It is a straight shot, 160 miles, 32 hours with the wind (if there is any) on the beam (90 degrees off the bow- a good sailing angle).

Make sure to check out our pictures, as I will try to upload some new ones after this post.

Love to all, Chaitanya
