Santa Barbara

Well, here we sit in lovely Santa Barbara Harbor. We arrived last Wednesday from Cojo Anchorage, Port San Lois, and Morro Bay. The big thing for us has been getting some of the damage from the collision fixed. John Payne, a local rigger and shipwright has been kind enough to take on our work (with his sidekick Adam) and even offered up his car for a grocery run! So all-in-all the collision has now put us two weeks behind schedule. Two weeks that I was supposed to be kicking back in Catalina-!@#$%!! But such is life, and we are still having the adventure of a lifetime.

On Sunday, we took the Amtrak from Santa Barbara to Anaheim and checked into our room at the Disneyland Hotel! Jonah and I played in the Neverland pool for hours, until the gloomy clouds moved in and it got a bit cold. On Monday, we took the Monorail to Tomorrowland for our hour early entry into the park. That was cool. I think I was a little over ambitious and took Jonah on a loud crazy ride first thing. It was Buzz Lightyear's Astro Orbiters and seemed harmless enough, but Jonah freaked out and the rest of the day was spent avoiding any ride that had a train, boat, water, tunnels, darkness, etc... We did get to ride the flying Dumbos, Teacups, Casey Jones Jr.'s Circus Train, and eventually Winnie the Pooh's ride.

Luckily for Heidi and Me, our friends Tom and Amy, along with Amy's Cousin Bob met up with us and we got a chance to do some bigger rides. It poured rain on and off- go figure. Anyway, I can't wait to take these kids when they are older and can appreciate it all.

Well, the sun seems to be finally breaking through. Maybe this will lift my spirits. It's amazing how deeply the weather affects my disposition. When we move back to Oregon, I know that I have to make preventative measures to keep the weather from affecting my practice.
