Santa Cruz

We've been in Santa Cruz now for four days. The boardwalk is only open on weekends, so we decided to stick around an extra couple days. The harbor is great. The staff are very courteous, there is a great bus system, and of course, the beautiful beaches. We had a couple foggy days and a couple sunny days. The passage from Half Moon Bay, about 60 miles was interesting. There was a short period (close together) northwest swell that kept the boat in a corkscrew motion. There was quite a lot of fog, and then the last 10 miles were blustery with 25 knot winds. Heidi and the kids fared better than our first passage. This time, only Gabriella blew chunks (of milk). We had a lot of fun at the boardwalk and will be headed 20 miles across Monterey Bay to Monterey tomorrow.
Welcome aboard the Sailboat Chaitanya. The Jarman Family (Ian, Heidi, Jonah and Gabriella) fulfill a dream of voyaging to tropical waters aboard their own sailboat. This site will serve as an information clearinghouse for family, friends and hopefully some curious others as well. Enjoy, and please drop a line!
