For anyone who doesn't know, I (Ian) am a chiropractor. I graduated from Chiropractic College last September, and made plans to open a practice in Eugene, Oregon. Well, as I was working on the details of starting a practice, I got so excited that I realized that I probably won't be able to quit after five or so years and then go sailing. No, I think I want to practice for a while longer than that once I get going.

So Heidi and I decided that we would go on a shorter cruise this year and next, and then start our practice next summer when we get back. In the meantime, we are scraping together the funds to go sailing on. Heidi does part-time work at Kaiser Hospital in Oakland, and I am hoping to do some work with my dad, as well as take locums (vacation relief) at chiropractic offices when possible.

Well, right now I am covering a practice in San Anselmo, California. It is called Life-Force Chiropractic, and is owned by Drs. Heidi Keller and Jim Lenihan. I met Heidi at a workshop called Advanced MasterPiece Camp by Dr. Arno Burnier. She is a real warrior- true to her mission and the principles of chiropractic. I just met Jim on the Friday before they took off for Maui, and I was real impressed. He is laid back and fun, but also gets things done. He is amazing with everyone, especially the babies that come in to get adjusted. Jim is also a pretty great surfer, judging from all the photos at the practice and at home. He's taking off on 10' Pipeline (Backdoor) and 20'+ Maverick's. Other shots, he's barreled in 8' tubes. Wow- my hero!

The staff Amanda and Josephina are great. That's the great thing about doing locums. The staff run the show and all I do is love the folks up, adjusting and playing. Hard "work"- let me tell you!

That's all for now. I will be doing this again on Wednesday, and then I'm going to the Strictly Sail boat show in Oakland on Thursday and Friday(Mexico Day).
